What’s more DC than a SCOTUS boardgame?

First Monday in October, in which players compete over how the US Supreme Court evolves ideologically, is one of many indie games visitors can experience at People Con 3 on October 17. Now in its third year, PeopleCon is put on by Designed in the DMV and hosted by People’s Book in Takoma Park, MD.

Talia Rosen, a Washington, DC resident, designed First Monday. Fort Circle Games, also based in DC, will soon be distributing copies to players worldwide. At PeopleCon, Ms. Rosen will join local legal author Brendan Ballou to compare how different media portray the history of American courts.

PeopleCon visitors will find games on topics ranging from anti-capitalist frogs to anime mechs to bonsai trees. Rowhaven Games will offer games for the whole family.

Designed in the DMV is an artist collective that connects game designers with local retailers, third spaces, and tabletop enthusiasts. The DMV is home to creators of some of the world’s most beloved analog games, from the party game Wits and Wagers to the card game Fluxx to the strategy game Wingspan.
